The accumulated wisdom of our team
Every member of our technical team is a tertiary qualified engineer with a keen interest in technology.
They use their skills in strategic thinking, design, communication and client liaison to provide high quality, targeted consultation and service to each ICT client.
Three of our engineers are accredited TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineers, creating a core consulting group and a specialised strength in safety thinking. TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineers have undertaken expert training and testing to ensure a steady update of knowledge and experience to keep pace with the increasing complexity of machines and plants, and their possible hazard potential.
Effective in-house communication and an “open-door” policy for senior staff ensure every client benefits from the collective experience of the entire team.
We are committed to the professional development of our staff – one of the reasons we have high staff retention rates. We know our staff and how to select teams that are best-suited to particular applications.
We value young people and the strengths they bring. Carefully shaping a young graduate into a skilled professional engineer is a rewarding process. We mentor them, not only in our policies, practices and procedures, but also in the broader aspects of the engineering co-ordination and management role, so they become capable, trusted consultants in their own right.

Michael Bagnara – Engineering Manager - TÜV FSEng ID N0: 2375/10
Michael presents an enviable mix of internal and external experience. After a stint with ICT in the late 1990s, he accepted a manufacturing management role with Bosch before returning to ICT as an Engineering Manager in 2005. These broader experiences give him a unique "client perspective" which translates to improved understanding of ICT client requirements. He is truly confident in the manufacturing environment and has a close appreciation for the corporate drivers that impact our customer's engineering projects.
Michael is a certified TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineer (Certification No: 2375/10).
A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Michael specialises in machine and process safety systems (in accordance with AS4024.1), PLCs (standard and safety), SCADA and the stringent requirements of the Defence and Pharmaceutical industries.
Michael is a clever analyst with the capacity to readily scrutinise a problem, determine a practical (often innovative) solution and document it clearly so those that follow can see where he's been. He is steadfast about documentation, knowing that user manuals, drawings and maintenance manuals are what make great solutions really functional … and maintainable by the client.
Michael is an energetic contributor to the ICT Management Team.
John Babic – Control Systems Engineer
John joined ICT 11 years ago as a graduate in Mechatronics – a specialist engineering qualification concerning the design and integration of systems combining electrical, mechanical and software components. He has since consolidated and expanded his skills on a wide variety of ICT projects including safety systems for the automotive industry and various bulk delivery systems for iron melting/ casting (also related to the automotive industry).
Project experience has continued to build on John's areas of specialisation – PLC programming (including standard and safety), HMI panels, variable speed drives and SCADA (particularly Citect and WinCC).
ICT clients repeatedly describe John as "easy to have around". He is a no-fuss, quiet achiever – a steady, methodical technical engineer who knows his stuff and is especially valuable on-site during the commissioning phase.
Shaun Van Beek – Control Systems Engineer
Since joining ICT as a graduate in 2003, Shaun has proven his worth on numerous projects involving PLC and SCADA technology. The bulk of his experience has been in the automotive, dairy and container cranes sectors but he is known for "hitting the ground running" when it comes to new environments. This makes his technical expertise very, very transferable. Shaun is unfazed by new ideas, new systems or new people.
With dual qualifications in Mechatronics and Computer Science, Shaun has demonstrated high technical aptitude and a particular ability to quickly master and apply new technological concepts. This adaptability helps ICT evaluate and where appropriate, integrate emerging technologies into client solutions.
Shaun is an enthusiastic learner and has developed comprehensive all-round skills with particular expertise in PLC programming (standard and safety PLCs), HMI panels, SCADA (Citect, WinCC) and RFID technology.
Kent Kratzmann – Control Systems Engineer
Kent came to ICT at the beginning of 2004 after gaining significant experience with a Queensland systems integration company who specialised in SCADA and related software applications. Since joining ICT Kent has built on this experience and his Degree in Electrical and Computer System Engineering. Whilst further developing his specialist skills as a SCADA engineer, he has been broadening his skills through involvement in a range of PLC and RTU projects. He has recently made notable contributions in a senior contract administration role on a major SCADA project.
Kent's SCADA expertise takes in Citect, WinCC, and Intellution iFIX. He is also proficient in SQL and Access database applications.
Excited by the fast pace of technological development, Kent embraces new ideas, thinking, tools, systems and componentry with speed and finesse …. but not without caution! He simultaneously applies due regard to proven engineering process to ensure "the new" is valid to each client's context and needs.
