ICT is recognised for smart contribution to the State of Victoria.

Industrial Control Technology Pty Ltd (ICT) received the highest Award of Excellence in the 2011 Victorian Engineering Excellence Awards (VEEA) in the Smart Systems category.
The award recognised ICT’s outstanding contribution to the CSIRO’s Australian Animal Health Laboratory upgrade at Geelong, a facility which plays a critical role in protecting animal health, human health, and the environment.
Managing Director Mark Crittenden explained the project. “ICT was charged with delivering innovative engineering solutions to upgrade the high-level bio containment laboratories. The complexity and scale of the project was daunting. It entailed extensive works without interruption to vital ongoing scientific operations.”
“We are not aware of a major modification program of a high security laboratory ever having been done under these challenging circumstances,” said Mr Crittenden. “In terms of control and monitoring systems, the project scale is equivalent to what might be found on a small oil refinery.”
Excellence on the quiet
Of all the professions perhaps engineering is the quite achiever. The VEEA awards not only acknowledge world class practice but also showcase the key trends, solutions to community and environmental issues and the significant contribution that engineers make to the State of Victoria.
ICT is also a quiet achiever. The business has a history of the creation of “world class” solutions, thus helping to drive a sustainable future for Australian industry, including the important transition of traditional manufacturing to “smart” manufacturing.
ICT’s business is all about innovation. For ICT innovation is all about using knowledge to find new ways to create and bring about change for the better. At the heart of ICT, like all remarkable innovators, lies a core of demanding routine and a disciplined methodology.
This project was no different. It relied on having a clear and common vision across the engineering team, a careful and systematic approach to each task, and a project culture of superior quality.
The innovative solution provided serves the diverse needs of engineering and scientific staff and delivers major benefits in terms of functionality, operability and maintainability.
Mr Crittenden extended thanks to the client, CSIRO, the capital works Project Managers (including the late Allan Kershaw of BKW Engineers Pty Ltd) but most particularly to the ICT engineering team, whose calibre “allowed us to approach the project with real confidence and leadership”.
