Automation and Process Control System Integration
Includes the specification of automation or process control system requirements, resolution of process issues with potential impact on project, followed by implementation of appropriate systems, involving selection and integration of commercial hardware and configuration of third-party industrial software packages to meet specific client requirements or existing systems.
Specialty areas include:
- Manufacturing - automation of plant and machinery in an automotive or other manufacturing environment.
- Materials Handling - automation of plant and machinery in bulk materials handling such as fertilisers.
- Process Control Systems - automation and control in a process environment, for example, in food and beverage manufacture.
Machine Safeguarding Systems Design and Implementation
ICT has developed specialist knowledge in compliance with the complex statutory requirements for Machine Safeguarding embodied in OH&S legislation. ICT is a recognised leader in this field and has proven capabilities in the selection and application of hardware and software for safeguarding.
The scope of ICT's experience in this field includes:
- The assessment of Hazards and Risks for plant - principally relating to machine guarding and the preparation of recommendations for Risk Controls
- Review of electrical and software components of existing and proposed Safety Related Control System implementations (on behalf of other designers or end users)
- Implementation of Risk Controls including the selection and application of hardware (safety switches, sensors, safety Relays and safety PLCs) and software for safeguards including Emergency Stops and Access Interlocks
ICT has broad experience in the implementation of Siemens and Pilz Safety PLC and Safety Relay systems, with past ICT projects having been featured in national and international industry publications.

S88 Batch Process Control Systems
S88 is an international standard which details structure, terminology and operating principles for the implementation of Batch Process Control Systems. These systems are increasingly used in batch process plants in food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries and provide substantial benefits for operations and management.
ICT is a leader in this emerging field, having implemented a very large system in dairy processing and having provided guidance, training and support on a number of subsequent projects.

Process Instrumentation
ICT maintains a strong capability in process instrumentation and associated petrochemical industry documentation techniques. This includes instrument selection, data sheet preparation, instrument data base and loop diagram drafting activities. This is combined with extensive field experience covering installation, commissioning and maintenance activities.
